In the spring semester of 2010, my first experience as an educator within a classroom for my Education 2500 class was in a kindergarten classroom, assisting Mrs. Seaman at Mike Mountain Horse Elementary School. Mrs. Seaman's classroom consisted of 19 students and two educational assistants. It was also an exciting time to be part of the classroom because during my practicum time the world was experiencing the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics.
I had such an amazing and special experience because MMH was where I once attended school. In fact, Mrs. Seaman's morning kindergarten class just happened to be in my old grade six classroom. It was a nostalgic affair but this time I was the teacher not the student! During my time in the classroom I had the opportunity to lead circle time on a few occasions, as well as lead small group center activities and one-on-one home reading assessments.
